A fixed written quote is a promise about scope: what we move, from where, to where, with which crew, on which date window. You should see line items or clear inclusions — not a vague “from £X” advert number.
What belongs in the quote
- Addresses, access notes, and parking constraints
- Inventory summary (rooms, bulky items, dismantling)
- Crew size, vehicle type, and estimated duration band
- Insurance confirmation and Waste Carrier details for clearances
What fairly changes the price
If you add three wardrobes the night before, or parking fails and we wait an hour, the job changed — not the company being difficult. Good operators re-quote when facts change; bad ones surprise you on the day. We prefer the honest conversation early.
Typical booking flow: written quote → deposit to secure the date → balance due no later than five days before service. Quotations are usually valid for seven calendar days unless we say otherwise in writing.
Is the quote the same as the final bill?
It should be, when the job matches what you described. Material changes to volume, access, or waiting time are the usual reasons a final adjustment is discussed in advance.
